Slip collaborators Hobbs & Shanko play in Somerville May 17

Post: # 25227Post mwred »

Slip co-conspirators Jim Hobbs and Timo Shanko of the Fully Celebrated Orchestra will be appearing, along with excellent drummer Luther Gray, as part of the Jazz at The Green Room series in Somerville, MA on Saturday May 17.

Timo recorded with The Slip on tenor sax, and he also appeared as part of the Howling Monkey Horns. This show will feature his amazing bass playing. Alto sax player Jim played with Andrew's side project Life Effect and sat in with SMMD in Allston some years ago; I'm sure readers here will fill us in on the other ways he intersected with The Slip over the years!

This will be an early show, 8-930ish, and it's a tiny room, seating only about 20. More info and link for advance tickets is here: http://www.facebook.com/events/584366384990868. More info about the series is at http://www.jazzatthegreenroom.com.

Nice! I've been meaning to get to that place. May 17th is a pretty glorious day, so long as weather holds out, for Somerville, as that's our Porch Fest festival. People sign up for times all around town to perform from, well, their porches! Had a blast last year. It's also pretty great because it's my birthday

Well, if it fits in as part of your birthday celebration, Zach, I don't think you'll be disappointed! I've been very happy with how the series has been going and this show should be awesome.

Looks like a blast but I am a bit geographically challenged for this one unless someone has a private jet I could borrow...

I think it will definitely be worth the trek... and I'm not saying that just because the show's part of a series I'm producing, promise!
