SETLIST: 5/15 Barr Brothers, Brighton Music Hall, Allston, M

Post: # 24595Post bear »

(79min) Intro > I Know*, Old Mythologies, Kisses from Chelsea, Deacon's Son, Beggar in the Morning**, Lord I Just Can't Keep from Cryin, banter***, Darkness Has Arms, Please Let Me Let it Go^, Little Lover, Give the Devil Back His Heart
Encore: Cloud^

* Nathan Moore cover ** faster than usual *** Brad mentioned how great it was to be "walking these streets again". he and Andrew used to live "3 blocks away" and he mentioned how the Slip played played there all the time and even had a Wednesday night residency at one point. The club was formerly known as Harpers Ferry but has been renovated. ^ with Jocie Adams on clarinet and backing vocals

This was a fantastic show, although the only song ive never heard them do was "I Know" everything was fresh sounding. The Deacon's Son had a nice jam, the Darkness was perfectly executed, The crowd was loving the string trick and ate up the Lord I just cant keep from Cryin (which may not be in correct order in the above set-list, i forgot to write it on my list). The show was technically sold out but there was plenty of room in the venue, very comfortable to move around in and I thought the sound was well balanced and clear. There was somewhat of a light show which complemented the upbeat songs immensely. Last time in Boston they played the 200 person capacity Cafe 939 and then they sold out the 340 capacity Bright Music Hall. This band is on the up and up and im loving it.

The only disappointment of the night for me was seeing Nathan video the whole show on the side of the stage but not sit in at all. Im also over the Cloud encore, I seem to get it at every show and although I love the tune I dont think it works as a stand alone encore at all. just my opinion i guess.
