This winter, I set forth on pilgrimage (put together by my new booking agent, The Fabulous Milanese Parker Angelo) from San Francisco To Seattle with Raney Empcee, the recently-made father and drummer for 28Teenage Angst.
Beforehand, however, I will be playing TWO shows in homeland Athens, GA: I want you to come!

Here Goes:

December the 20th. Wednesday. Athens, GA. The Flicker Theater with CLAIRE CAMPBELL from HOPE and COUNT KELLAM, we are called THE RHINO 5, and I don't know why, but it don't matter. This show, oh people, I think we might make you feel like it's snowing outside- in a good way. Starts at 8 P.M. bring your new babies.

December the 28th. Thursday. Little Kings, Athens, GA. BUT This show- complete with Homesteaded Chocolate Surprise Alchemy and a PHILLY BAND called ADAM R CURAGI (www.myspace.com/adamrcuragi) will be THE FIRST SHOW I PLAY with TRIO: drummer JEFF REILLY and bass/lap-steal/etc.-ist NEAL FOUNTAIN. Yippers.

I met Leslie Helpert at a farm outside of Athens just a couple weeks ago for a pre-thanksgiving meal. We were all sitting around talking after the food had been devoured. I noticed she was playing and singing quietly at the piano for a minute. Then about 30 minutes later she picked up a guitar and played a couple songs. I was silently floored, and the room kinda stopped mid sentence to listen to her.

I then spoke with her briefly after a Gillian Welch concert last Thursday. I can't wait for that show she's doing with the girl from Hope For Agoldensummer at this great local spot, The Flicker.

I love our local musicians.

yeah, me to. I've been keeping an eye on her website and it seems as though she hasn't been playing much. I was hoping it was that her website wasn't getting updated but nothing on pollstar either. Hopefully she'll be on her way to Vermont soon!
