I just recently got turned onto Mason's music and was wondering what every/anyone else thought. I'm pretty impressed and hoping he heads to the NE soon.

Off to get my slur on. Happy Friday Sliplive.

check! a fairly musically tapped friend turned me on to the first two albums a few years ago, and i'm now quite into his stuff. i've seen him once, and he and two other players deliver a fairly straight rendition of his tunes, but with great energy. i love his lyrics - he has a great twist on storytelling. his compositions are a great mix of good folk rock and complexity.

he plays shows out here. i don't remember seeing him around boston, though. i saw all of his songs are on rhapsody, and though i'm not a PC user, i'd recommend checking out everything on the first two disks.

top five songs for a good first impression:

darkness between the fireflies
big sur
ballad for my one true love
nothing
the mountain

ooh. not to mention, a favorite lyric from a song that isn't listed in that first impression collection: from "United States Global Empire":

freedom's the ability to feel love for everyone.
