I was real exicted for the sts9 album until I heard the radio cut of tokyo. You can check it out for free from sts9music.com, but I was real shocked to find myself thinking it sucked. Maybe I should check it out again, or maybe its just cause its a radio cut. Im now curious to see what the rest of the album will sound like. They still rock hard and cant wait to see them again in Feb.

tony, take it easy. i didnt think much of the radio edit either, but it does sound different than the rest of the shite out there, so thats a very good thing. i think its gonna sound really 21st century discoteque if you know what i mean. even if the cd disapoints, theyre still one of the best live acts around.

i like what i've heard of tokyo with the exception of the dj scratching at the end. someone needs to tell them that white boys messing around with scratch outros is a way played out cliche.

this is more just an excuse to make my first post on sliplive, but I used to absolutely love STS, from about 99-mid 2002, I took a long hiatus after that and saw them again in 2003 I believe, they played an aftershow at the Phish show in Worcester and I thought they really sucked. That thought was confirmed again aboard this years JamCruise, where they played 2 boring, ass sets. They just don't do it for me anymore, they really have become disco for the 21st century. just my .02

let me be the first to welcome you here headnugg.
i feel the opposite of you. i first saw them in '99 and i always liked them alot but, IMO, the shows have been getting stronger and stronger each time i've seen them. oh well, different strokes.

ok i have been listening to the new sector 9 for about a week. and it's
pretty hot. it won't totally overwhelm you, though. Artifact is sublter than
that... these are handcrafted songs & for a group that has just rediscoverd
the studio after years of touring it's pretty amazing.
the radio edit of Tokyo has its faults. the songs on Artifact are highly
composed, and some sections frankly don't do it for me. but that song in
particular contains some of the most intense moments on the album.
i say give it a few listens... you might even hear it, put it away for a few
months & come back to it with new ears. but it's worth hearing.
