the great great great thing about this news is that they'll be coming south!!!! my two-plus year slip hiatus will finally come to an end sometime in february/march. that's just great.

by the way, the last show i saw was at the Bluebird Theatre in Denver in '04, and it was fuckin awesome.

yep... I just wonder how well the new sound will go over in the "jam" community festival type setting...

I mean, I know that they'll still go over huge at High Sierra.. but this is a new spot... and the number of guitar hero, indy kids vs crusty granola wookies will probably number like 1:100.... so I'll just have to wait and see how things roll in the aftermath... but I'm hoping it goes well cause I'd really hate to see them shy away from this type of avenue....

that is a very jammy lineup compared to last year, but Stephen Malkmus and Band of Horses are in there too.

the wookie jamband scene is dying. And in it's place the hipster indie has risen. The Slip's history somewhat mirrors the overall trend in those two genres/music scenes. I think a lot of the people there will also be big fans of bands Wilco, BTS, The Flaming Lips, etc. And it could possibly turn out that a lot of fans who go because they use to love hippie festivals so much, will find themselves in need of something like The Slip to relieve the pain they receive from overwankery.

it looks like all the headliners are jammy but there's a lot of artists that are REALLY far from the jam scene. Explosions in the Sky, Four Tet, Blackalicious, Steve Malkmus...gives the lineup a little more diversity. this falls on my spring break so I might go down, depending on the ticket price. Widespread Panic and Moe really don't do anything for me though so those are 2 big negatives.

Looks like they just upped the indie quotient because there's a batch of new bands today...My Morning Jacket, Cat Power, The Hold Steady, and probably some others I'm not noticing. nice.
