to me, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is almost on par with a concept album. it's so different than everything else. also, the band has changed so much since YHF, that it's basically Tweedy and his ideas using the parts he has to work with at the time.

YHF is an amazing album, but I don't compare it to anything else they've done.

let's not forget Summerteeth in all this. that album always reminds me of a modern-day Beatles for some reason (cliche I know). it's like the pop version of YHF.

and A Ghost is Born is nearly as good as YHF, very avant-garde but I think its their most interesting sonically.

and Sky Blue Sky is a record in a way that hasn't been seen in 30 years.

and Being There is pretty much every American style of music tangentally related to rock in the past 40 years, excellent mix.

A.M.'s a bit crap though.

i honestly don't personally know anyone who thinks AM is anything besides "decent".

i haven't met a Wilco album I didn't liked.
