the new modest mouse, wilco and ryan adams are my 3 favourites of the year so far. easy tiger keeps growing and growing and growing and growing and growing and.... much like the mouse did when i started to sink my teeth into it.

been listening to icky thump a lot lately, too.. didnt like it at first, but i've been hearing the album a little differently since i saw them last week, and i can safely say my tune has changed. probably wont crack any "best of" lists for me this year, but a solid album.

That Do Make Say album is really good. For some reason I forgot about that.
Ryan Adams released his best album in years. It took me a while but I like it more everytime I hear it.
Wilco's Sky Blue Sky is a beautiful album filled with beautiful songs.
I have to agree with Emotionalism. I had never heard of the band before but I really enjoy this album.
Andrew Bird's album I listened to a lot in the winter but it kind of fell out of rotation in the summer months.

The best in my opinion is the National's Boxer. It's easily one of the best albums of the year. I would strongly reccommend it to anyone.

Significantly better. It's not the same kind of music though. This is an instrumental album. The best way to describe it would be to call is post-rock. Just take Do Make Say Think or Mogwai and add in some more electronic and beat elements poof you have the Mix Up.

It is a pretty solid release.

So far I've checked out The Avett Brothers, The Bees, and The Cinematic Orchestra. The latter two are new to me and especially impressive (and quite different from each other). The Avett Bros are definitely spirited and cool as well. I love getting these new recommendations.

Has anyone listened to the Blonde Redhead album "23"? Title track here: http://hypem.com/search/Blonde%20Redhead%2023/1/

Anyone like Calexico? Their new one isn't my favorite, but "Feast of Wire" is an insanely good record. Here's a taste: http://hypem.com/search/Calexico%20Sunken%20Waltz/1/

Thanks y'all! Happy listening . . .
