almost there

Mary
you would not be the woman that you are
someone could mend
your troubled heart
that would be easier
that would be wrong

Water
sometimes i think my cup might overfill
as if god and the devil had struck a deal
so you could have this one
after im done

ohhhhhhhhhh
let me hear music
like you hear music
like we were just born
oooooooooooo
let there be horses
let there be danger

let there be one song one
song for the little and
song for his wife and their two small children
and his total life

oooooo who oooowho oooowho ooowho

people
don't love but have little for themselves
or pray for a stranger to lift their faith
that would be everyone
that would be us

oh oh oh children
that would never keep us from itself
it bears to a window we weep and yell
but you are a daughter
you are a son

ohhhhhhhh
let me have patients
like you have patients
like you were old

ohhhhhhhh
let there be horses
that will be danger
let there be one song
a song for the little
and a song for the wife and the two small children
children and his hope alive(?)

chorus

oh let me hear music.. let there be one song one song..
|--o--3---o--o---0----|---o---3---o-------|----o---3---------|----2------|

|--o--o---2--o---o----|---o---o---o-------|----o---o---------|----2------|
|--2--o---2--2---2----|---2---o---2-------|----2---o---------|----o------|
|--3--2---o--2---3----|---3---2---o-------|----3---2---------|----o------|
|--o--3---o--o---o----|---o---3---o-------|----3---3---------|----o------|

thats what I have right now, it sounds like standard tuning but prolly a half step down. You can fool around in between all the chords to spice it up a little. This was a first attempt at tabbing so ,listen to the song to get the timing down and all the chord progressions.

Bumpin' this because I can't stop listening to the World Cafe version of this song from June '09.

I believe Brad capo's at 7, plays the song in D, and uses the G chord shape there. The tab provided so generously above has all of the relative chord shapes, just simply refer to open as capo at 7.

Also, "Let me have patience", not patients :lol:

Sitting here with a broken left pinky finger trying not to go crazy. Anyone have any advice?

Luckily, this beautiful song can be played (to an extent) without the pinky:

instrumental: verse chords x2

end on G

*I play the Db like this: x43000 I'm not sure what to call it, but it resolves quickly on the C.

notes:
- transcribed from http://www.pastemagazine.com/blogs/av/2011/12/the-barr-brothers---let-there-be-horses-1.html
- use that video to figure out some of the more intricate parts (licks, fillers, walkdowns, etc)
- i'm not convinced of all of the lyrics, but did the best i could.
