You also need the laquered up fretboard like Jaco used to do. It's epoxy or something. That probably helps that trick out a bit.

I ripped the frets out of my bass. used a screwdriver to pry them out, then filled the gaps with wood putty. used some coarse sand paper to smooth things out, then some fine sand paper to make it even smoother. then put down a couple layers of wood finish (Polyurethane I think) and sanded with super fine sand paper. worked out pretty well.

marc also uses a alot of gain/overdrive when he messes around with the harmonics. he also turns on an equalizer that has all the sliders pretty low.

his body temp also drops approximately .3 degrees (C), and his heart and breathing rates drop by 10-12 and 11-15 percent, respectively.

Sorry, Casey. just busting your balls.

Props on the luthiery work. I'm sure it turned out better than the fretboard I put on my mandolin.

good info. do you regret not having frets at all? or do you have another bass with frets. i've thought about doing this myself.

I really like the tone of a fretless bass so I didn't mind not having a fretted bass at first. but then I started playing slap bass, which doesn't sound as good on a fretless. so that was kind of annoying. I got semi-flatwound strings (roundwounds that are sanded down a bit) for my fretless which added some brightness to the tone but it still didn't sound as good for slapping. but now my friend let me borrow his fretted bass so yeah. I really like fretless, but its nice to have frets too.

hahah, good one. yeah when I go to see the slip I try to learn as much as possible about what they are doing technically. but sometimes I get a little too into it...

ok, dont kill me for being innacurate

but if youre playing this with your freinds or something, this might sound alot better than the guitar hero tab, which is rediculous in my opinion

ok, hold a bar across the 7th fret! let the f# and d ring out! (the higher 7s)
----------------------
------------7----------
---------------7-------
---7-h-9------------- x2 (G)
-10-----10----------

--7-h-9------------- x1 (Emin)
-7--------7----------

happy noodling. this vaguley reflects what marc is doing on the bass actually.
