New Brad Slip tune - The Chasers?

Post: # 20542Post harrymcq »

Been trying to figure out this one, this is what I have so far... any input welcome. I am particularly wondering what the word is before "all over our faces". It sounds like squidding which I don't really think is a word. Spreading is my best guess but I'm not convinced.

Set those to burning,
This wagon won't be returning
Rider came back here,
Said that the coast was clear
None of us would do well,
Boiling our teeth to sell

Drunken, and breathing
All Winter I've had this feeling,
That you were an angel,
Sent to the caves of hell,
To carry (rescue) me from the wheel
Our fingers would ?? to feel

As long as the chasers,
?Spreading? all over our faces
ending, beginning, losing and winning
Oh, got to feel it

Have to be a stone,
Not to see that
Have to walk alone

Who has been sleepin'
My bet that's not me dreaming
?? been/live here, all that dissapeared
for 3 decades or more
been a guest on my own floor

I got arrested, my patience was tried and tested
Doctor come quickly, not to rescue me
but carry me from the wheel,
?

As long as the chasers,
spreading all over our faces,
Ending, beginning, losing and winning

Have to be a stone,
not to see that,
Have to walk alone
not to be that

Have to love a stone
Not to feel,
Have to love a stone,

Have to be a stone
Have to love a song
Have to walk alone

i would put money on - not a lot of money - but some.... on "squidding" being "it's written" which when you take into consideration the lyrically conversational bend brad gives things when he sings comes out more like "isridden" which is pretty close to "squidding"... if anything can be.... and a few other things i hear where there are question marks but i'm not good at eating a cheeseburger sub and typing at the same time... be back later

i agree with chloe. i think its "it's written all over our faces"

also i hear:

"Pulling our teeth to sell"
"Drunken and reeling"
"in my bed thats not me dreaming"

i'll have to listen again - dont have the tune with me now to listen to
"if there's one thing I know to be true, let what you love be what you do"

Hmm, good input everyone! Thanks... I will listen again with these in mind...

edit - just did a quick re-listen, I do think it's "It's written", not "squidding" :)

I talked to Brad about this tune, he has the sentiment that its nowhere near finished so we may see some lyrical or musical changes. he referred to it as "Set Those to Burning" too.
In other news, his solo instrumental album is done, even the artwork, and he's currently shopping it around to labels. It contains "War" and "Sarah Through the Wall" but we probably couldve guessed those were on there anyway.
