Re: Slip collaborators Hobbs & Shanko play in Somerville May

I think it will definitely be worth the trek... and I'm not saying that just because the show's part of a series I'm producing, promise!

Well, if it fits in as part of your birthday celebration, Zach, I don't think you'll be disappointed! I've been very happy with how the series has been going and this show should be awesome.

Slip collaborators Hobbs & Shanko play in Somerville May 17

Slip co-conspirators Jim Hobbs and Timo Shanko of the Fully Celebrated Orchestra will be appearing, along with excellent drummer Luther Gray, as part of the Jazz at The Green Room series in Somerville, MA on Saturday May 17. Timo recorded with The Slip on tenor sax, and he also appeared as part of t...

Re: Slip Torrent Storm

Wow, amazing stuff here! Lots to explore. Harry or anyone, do you have a set The Slip played in a split bill with Club d'Elf at Lupo's over Thanksgiving weekend 2000 or 2001? That was my first time seeing them... had seen Brad sit in with ThaMuseMeant at Johnny D's not long before, I think. Thanks i...

Re: Slip Torrent Storm

That Scullers show is incredible. If you don't have it, grab it! And if you do -- which others would folks recommend as a comparable set?

Re: BBros 11-17-12 in Providence

They played a good set, all songs from the record and others that I assume will be on the next -- Kisses from Chelsea, Darkness. I found the sound a little challenging... Definitely the biggest room I've seen them in, and a little muddy. No sit ins or guests during their set. Well received for sure....

The Slip with horns

Hey all, I've seen mention of a show 12-31-02 with Timo Shanko, James Merenda and Grayson Farmer on horns. Would be into hearing that stuff, or other sets with a horn section. Anyone willing to re-up on BT or post MP3s somehow? Many thanks in advance.

Re: Brighton Music Hall, 5/15

Yeah, I was kinda bummed that Nathan didn't come out from behind the camera too but I hear the stream was great. The band sure sounded good from where I was standing.

I'll be there. Opener looks pretty interesting too - he did a Tiny Desk concert last week. I can imagine some interesting sit-in possibilities.

Montreal music suggestions next week?

Going to be in Montreal for a couple nights next week on with my wife and daughter, staying in the Old Port area. Any music suggestions Monday or Tuesday night, post kiddo bedtime but not too late? Might go out for a wander and take in some Montreal music if there's something interesting and not too...

Re: Barr Brothers at Cafe 939 TONIGHT!

Excellent show! Hope to get some pics and write-up up at www.whatilikeissounds.blogspot.com this weekend. Btw, "Girl on violin" was Laura Cortese. Great player, too bad she didn't really get to step out. Was thrilled to see her and Charlie Rose (banjo, pedal steel) on stage with Jocie but ...

Re: Brad's string "trick"

Cool. Figured I'd probably run into folks from here without knowing it. I don't tend to be too chatty at shows, not disinterested, just a little shy and pretty focused when it comes to music. See you again sometime.
