We're probably way overthinking it. In the end it's the music that counts and if it gets people talking about the album great. Anyway, political/historical references aside. I like the small furry animal / powerful sounding name juxtaposition. oh and that's a great quote by Marc Ribot. he's a pretty...

Yeah, I agree. I do think it's cool that the band gave the two intros unique names - though in practice these songs will most likely remain as just that, intros, as you point out. My guess is that they tracked them that way on the album to make main parts of those songs a little more radio/single f...

Why do you think the Eisenhower vicuna scandal reference is trite? I usually don't like overt political references in music but I think this one is pretty smart. It references a point in history that has a lot of parallels to what's going on now without expressing an opinion about it. And The Slip h...

Interesting....
From: http://www.usatoday.com/news/opinion/editorials/2006-02-28-baker-edit_x.htm Ike and a vicuna coat. The scandal of the past that most closely resembles the current uproar over lobbying excesses is the one that struck the Eisenhower administration in June 1958. At that time, House Democrats char...

when you convert to mp3, you actually destroy data that was in the song. when mp3's get burned back to wav, they loose data also. I know, and there's nothing wrong with nicely reminding people of that. thats why most tapers are partial. its all good though its exposure and thats what we need right ...

Please take this the the right way (I'm EXTREMELY grateful for the efforts of tapers....especially one who also runs a 24hr streaming server) but I don't think tapers have any right to put restrictions on the shows they tape and share. All rights should remain with the artist. The guy did say this, ...

I guess this is as good a time to delurk as any.... Wow, someone else in the UK who's heard of the Slip. How did you hear / get into them? I don't really count though, I moved here from the States about a year ago (from San Fran...and before that Boston). Anyway...good to see there are fans out here...
