Re: New rule

Well this is weird, because the above post is a post I allegedly authored, but I DIDN"T write this! What the hell is going on? Not sure what you mean. Are you saying that you didn't write any of the post that ended: TBC at work tomorrow........... Or are you saying that you didn't write this: ...

I don't care why urinating/defecating on the street is illegal or when it was made illegal. For the sake of MY argument, it is all irrelevant. Yes, for the sake of your ORIGINAL argument ("this new rule is a bad thing") it may be irrelevant. But at this point in our long and winding road ...

Well done, Bob. If a law must be made, it should have to do with distance one must be from an entrance to a building. But these rules tend to be meaningless. Each of the two schools I have attended had this rule, but the smokers do not pay any attention to it, and no one is going around enforcing it...

wow, i'm really loving some of the posts here... excellent discussion. hats off to hoby and bob... Thanks magpie. I agree. This is a highly-charged topic and everyone has kept things civil and productive. Except for headnugg when he said I wasn't funny. That was the type of scurrilous attack usuall...

watching my uncle and cousin slowly give their life away in a room all too disrespectful. Because they were chronic smokers, the hospital staff treated them as if they were lower human beings. I'm sorry for your losses, Dan. To have the pain of loss compounded by that kind of insensitivity is just ...

I believe that people are, at this point, overstating the harmful effects of tobacco. By "people" do you mean people like me arguing for freedom from the byprodcuts of other people's smoking or the people conducting scientific studies and determining the effects? So if me and you are hang...

Behaviour coercion represents a serious threat to both personal liberties and freedom of enterprise. A state that uses taxation, communication and law to impose personal health is called a Therapeutic State, one in which all citizens are potentially sick and in need of cure. Such a regime elevates ...

Phrazz,

That was most excellent fun.

One of these days we should all get together without inviting the Slip so that we can play with language and ideas in person without the music to distract us.

Thanks,

That's completely different, though I'm assuming that you are being "funny".... How come etahn gets the benefit of the doubt on being funny and I don't? Urinating/defecating in public is a completely different thing and you know it. If you do that you ARE breaking the law by exposing your...

I know I'm going to regret getting involved... That is completely insane. Do we live in a police state where we no longer have human rights? Does that mean I live in a police state because I can't defecate or urinate wherever I want? Seems to me it's a basic human right to not have to suffer the dis...

Confirmed feed date for Slip on Mountain Stage

I emailed Mt. Stage to ask about when we might get to hear BAM on the air. The response is printed below, with permission of course: ----------------- Hello Hoby, Thanks for writing to us here at Mountain Stage, and thanks especially for listening. The Slip were fantastic to have on the show, and I ...

Hard to choose, but I can easily say that the lyric that affects me the most deeply is "Through the Iron Gate." (Is that the official title? Does Lazilee fit in there somewhere?) Stops me in my tracks every time. I'll second (or third) the motion for The Shouters. The other two that slay m...

I hope she gets in that porno and has a say in the sdtk..... Well, okay then. Let's play a new game: What Slip song do YOU want to hear playing in the background when the doorbell rings and she and her cinematic sleepover friends say "Oh, it's the pizza delivery boy!" I'l...
