I haven't heard that show though 2003 is probably my favorite year at the moment, seems like some sort of heavenly fusion of the 'old' and the 'new' Slip both of whom I love of course. The setlists from 2003 were just out of control as well. Something Learned (or is it Chrysanthemum?) is one of my f...

hmm, before it was BAM. Who's writing the Slip bio? I hope someone is saving all these interviews and articles online and in print lately, I sure haven't had the time/energy to do so. I also nominate Spice Groove as a modern jam vehicle. Or even Jumby or Gecko... Moral Decay has lyrics but I could a...

Re: Johnny's Tune - Who's Johnny??? I always guessed Scofield but was never sure. It seems they have settled in to Wolof and Get Me With Fuji as their jammy instrumental numbers. Also Moderate Threat > Cowboy Up. What about some other tunes for that 'slot' in the setlist. Other than Johnny's Tune an...

I love Phish and I don't think they're done forever but I don't want to talk about Phish here except tangentially. I also never talk about Phish with most Deadheads (I am a deadhead as well.) It's like talking politics with (some) older relatives or people you work with.

I can't think of the last time I read rolling stone, probably in some sort of waiting room. Thanks for the scan. The article was pretty good! As much as one could consider me a fan of many 'jam-bands' I've ALWAYS hated that label and have thought that there are a lot of seriously mediocre bands who ...

And not to be a sickening Mac evangelist but the notion that Apples are more expensive than Dells isn't necessarily true. (though people seem happy to discuss it ad infinitum)

I've been a mac guy since '84 or '85 and though I'll admit that apple had some bad years in there in the 90's since OS X things have been pretty awesome. And now as Dan said with the Intel chips in the new Macs you can run XP totally native (boot camp beta, soon to be part of Leopard - 10.5) which i...

I loved the Eube (Neube?) at NYE which was just Part 2. I also like the other new Eube from the 4/15/06 Narrows show which is part 1 +2 but a bluesier Part 1. Of course I also like the old Eube's but in general I am happy to hear any variant.

Would you go see The Slip in Mexico or some other country?

Alright, our discussion over in shows leads towards discussion of international Slip shows. Would you want to see The Slip in Akumal, Mexico or anywhere else for that matter? Where can you go? Where do we want to go?

I have been down to Akumal 5 times in the past 8 years or so and there is this awesome stage where I saw SCI & Keller tear it up that simply isn't used often anymore. It is an idyllic paradise literally 100 yards from the beach and I could see it being the ideal setting for a Slip show. I also k...

Wow, am I setting a record for the most consecutive posts from one person?

I corresponded with Stephen Booth, author of Max and he said that he had fixed this problem as of 0.7.1. I checked and lo and behold these files were created with 0.7!!! Problem solved... whew!

Man, I feel like I'm talking to myself, have to find a smaller avatar :) I figured out what went wrong. I double checked a bunch of other FLAC's I've ripped recently and they checked out fine. Turns out when I re-named the files to fit the standard convention the MD5 errors pop up. Not sure of the e...

I don't think Mothwing Bite would be a very good single at all. It is fun but doesn't really have much meat to it and isn't particularly representative of the Slip these days. Children of December nails it for me. Mothwing could be the B-side if they still have such things. Of course Even Rats is a ...
