could anyone help with these lyrics? i'm having a hard time deciphering.

Bb

Bb
it’s probably now that I need you the most
F
i’m one half child and the other ghost

and one of ‘em wants to pull you close
Eb
and the other’ll let you go

the town’s criminal love hard one ?
Bb
and love defies everyone
F
inside my skin a skeleton
Eb Bb
is warming up his eyes

my body’s my dog and my friend doesn’t bite
though he looks severe, he never died ?
a hundred degrees fahrenheit
is as cool as my mind?

if one of these the poison cup
then my acceptance seems abrupt
but if you’re gonna line ‘em up
well I have to knock ‘em down

instrumental

well there’s nothing so wrong that this right can’t fix
despite how blood and water mix
and when a pony runs out of tricks
then his work has just begun

all I do to you baby, if I ?
just a lonely impulse of delight
and balancing that brought to mind
the years to come, the years behind
will I grow weary of the sun
remembering what I have done
with old mythologies

F
you gotta choose
Bb Eb Cm7
you wanted a song to rescue us
Csus2 F
amy, what did you leave for us
Bb
so we can get home

instrumental (harmonica)

solomon sang to shiva’s grace
and he kissed her soft and sunken face
if one of us has to leave this place
would the other come along

we went on the round and round
shared our kissed by the pound
and chased our shadows on the ground
spilled our cups in chinatown
put up the moon took down the sun
played our songs for everyone
remembering what we had done
with old mythologies

you gotta choose
you wanted a song to rescue us
amy, what did you leave for us
so we can get home
so we can get home

I have some help but some lines still elude me. Some nuances vary as usual.

Bb

Bb
it’s probably now that I need you the most
F
when i’m one half child and the other ghost

and one of ‘em wants to pull you close
Eb
and the other to let you go

the times criminal love hard one
Bb
and love defies everyone
F
inside my skin a skeleton
Eb Bb
is warming up his act

my body’s my dog and my friend doesn’t bite
though he looks severe and erudite
and a hundred degrees fahrenheit
is as cool as an ermine

if one of these the poison cup
then my acceptance seems abrupt
but if you’re gonna line ‘em up
well I have to knock ‘em down

instrumental

well there’s nothing so wrong that what's right can’t fix
despite how blood and water mix
and when a pony runs out of tricks
then his work has just begun

all I do to you baby, if I ?
just a lonely impulse of delight
and balancing that brought to mind
the years to come, the years behind
will I grow weary of the sun
remembering what I have done
with old mythologies

F
you gotta choose
Bb Eb Cm7
you wanted the song to rescue us
Csus2 F
amy, what did you leave for us
Bb
so we can get home

instrumental (harmonica)

solomon sang to sheba's grace
and he kissed her soft and sulkin' face
if one of us has to leave this place
would the other come along

we've been on the round and round
and shared our kissed by the pound
and chased our shadows on the ground
spilled our cups in chinatown
put up the moon took down the sun
played our songs for everyone
remembering what we had done
with old mythologies

you gotta choose
you wanted a song to rescue us
amy, what did you leave for us
so we can get home
so we can get home

just wanna chime in - brad plays this tune (live at least) capo on 3rd fret
and then i think its basically just G,D,C most of the way through

the chords posted above are probably the same relative to w/o capo?

They are. The G shape is Bb with the capo at 3, C is Eb, D is F.

K, so if I actually tab it out I'll update this post (and I should tab it out because I always forget how to play everything - I'm just relearning this tune now). But I'll post the chords and basic chord shapes used (relative to the capo). Once I tab it out it'll include some of the melodic bits.

Barr Brothers - Old Mythologies
Drop D, Capo III

G: 55000x
D: 000232 (you can sometimes use this variation... 004232)
C: x32010 (you can sometimes throw the add9 in there... x32030)
Em: 222000
Am7: x02010
Am7add9: x02410
Am: x02210

Verse:
|G |D |D |C |
|C |G |D |C G |

Chorus:
|D |C G Em C G | <---(hard to specify timing on these chords using this format)
|Am7 |Amadd9 Am Am7|
|D <---(some beautifully wonky descending notes happen here)
